Periscoping the bottleneck in the implementation of third National Fadama Development Program in Enugu State
Abstract
This study examined the implementation of third National Fadama development Program in Enugu State. The study was conceived out of the perennial food shortage in Nigeria, with emphasis on Enugu. The study adopted nonpurposive sampling technique. Survey research method was adopted and questionnaires were administered to 396 Fadama beneficiaries and Fadama staff in the Ministry of Agricultural and Rural Development, Enugu. Data obtained was analyzed using ANOVA. The study revealed that lack of skilled manpower for extension services have significant effect on the implementation of the FADAMA programme. In the light of the foregoing findings, the researchers recommend the skilled technical staff should be recruited and monitored to ensure the implementation of the FADAMA programme achieve the intended objectives.
