Abstract

This paper investigates the utilization of computers between University of Port Harcourt and Rivers State University of Science and Technology. A 2-item instrument titled comparative Analysis on the Utilization of Computers Questionnaire (CAUCQ) was used to generate data for answering 2 research questions and testing 2 null hypotheses. The instrument was validated by a team of experts in the Department of Curriculum studies and Educational technology, Test-retest reliability co-efficient was established at 0.84. The research questions were answered using simple percentages and null hypotheses tested using chi-square at 0.05 level of probability. The findings reveal among others that extent of usability of computers in the two universities had a significant difference. It was concluded that the level of computer utilization in UNIPORT is more than in the RUST. It was recommended that periodical, pre and post qualification seminars be organized for the 2 university communities to keep them abreast of any new development in the field of computers.
