Constraints affecting teaching and learning of indigenous language by adult farmers in delta state, Nigeria
Abstract
This paper examines constraints affecting teaching and learning in indigenous languages by adult farmers in Delta State. Data were collected from 200 randomly selected respondents in the study area. Data analysis was by the use of simple descriptive statistics. The following constraints were identified as affecting the teaching and learning of local languages by adult farmers: lack of extension agents trained in the use of local languages for the teaching of adult farmers, lack of textbooks, journals, and magazines or even newsletters written on the local languages, inadequate financial provision to sponsors the training of extension agents and books required for the use of local languages in teaching the adult farmers.
