An Analysis of Traditional Political Organizations: Lessons for the Present

Abstract

This paper which is a discourse in political history, adopts the descriptive approach as it tends to assess tenets of socialism and egalitarianism as obtained in some ancient societies of Nigeria’s south-south region. The contention of this paper is that, in as much as most of the tenets of politics and government as we know it today have been a part of life in our ancient communities, our history ultimately becomes a rich source of knowledge from which we can draw inferences from to explain the failure and successes of present day societies, as well as make predictions which is what the essence of political science is all about.
