The impact of globalization on the socio-linguistic landscape of Nigeria

Abstract

The process of globalization, its nature and impact on the linguistic landscape of Nigeria constitute the main concerns of the present study. The thrust of the argument in this study is that globalization is an irreversible process and that the survival of Nigeria’s cultural values (including language) is largely based on how the .government and civil society readily withstand the risks and challenges (such as the dying of minority languages) and embrace the opportunities which the globalization process offers.
