Electrical system distribution audit – A case study of University Benin Teaching Hospital, Edo State, Nigeria
Abstract
This paper presents energy audit results of University of Benin Teaching Hospital 11kV distribution network. Electrical measurement instruments were used to collect data from the network and the collated data were used to model the network in Electrical Transient Analyzer Program, ETAP 7.0 software package environment. The model network was analyzed using Newton-Raphson algorithm. The result obtained showed that the operating load of the network as of December 2015 was 2530KVA, at 92.09% power factor with power losses of 31.4KW and 148.4 KVAr. A compensator device was used to reduce the network real and reactive power losses by 1.3% and 3.36% respectively. The operating load of the network also reduced to 2455KVA, a reduction of 1.5%.
