Traffic flow analysis of some selected road network in Uyo Metropolis

Abstract

Vehicular flow pattern (vehicle count) at some selected road intersections with traffic light cycle is examined. The intersection vehicle traffic count is carried out for vehicles entering an intersection stratified by only movement (left, through, and right) and we assume all vehicle types to be the same. The peak hour volume (PHV), the peak hour flow (PHF) and peak flow rate (PFR) for the AM peak period and PM peak period respectively are determined. Result obtained shows that the PHF for the junction considered is approximately 0.9 and agrees with standard values in literature.
