Effect of Crude Aqueous Extract of the Leaf of Cissampellos Owariences on Litter Number in Rats
Abstract
Objective: To determine the effect of a crude aqueous extract of the leaf of Cissampellos Owariences on the number of Litters produce per rat against the background of a folkloric reputation an application to human patients.
Method: The method for extraction included the use of cold percolation and distilled water. The extract was administered to mature albino rats of proven fertility using the orogastric method.
Main outcome measure: Litter number Results: The extract significantly reduced the number of litters produced by the rat.
Conclusion: Cissampellos Owriences has a deleterious effect on the reproductive system and caution must be exercised in its use in humans.
