Survey On Management Systems And Gross Profit Analysis Of Muturu In Southern Cross River State
Abstract
A survey to assess the different management systems of muturu cattle and the demographic characteristics of muturu cattle rearers in Southern Cross River state was carried out by means of well structured questionnaires. Primary data were obtained by randomly administering questionnaires to the respondents. Descriptive statistics and gross profit was used to analyze the data. Results showed that most cattle farmers were educated, males and
practiced the extensive management system. Most farmers engaged in muturu rearing for commercial purposes. Cost price of muturu within the study area was uniform due to the influence of market associations. The selling price of muturu cattle is however influenced by the location.
