A hierarchical modeling of information seeking behavior of school teachers in rural areas of Nigeria
Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the information seeking behavior of school teachers in the public primary schools of rural areas of Nigeria and to draw up a model of their information-seeking behavior. A Cross-sectional survey design research was employed to carry out the research. Findings showed that the information seeking behavior of these school teachers has the following hierarchical activities: Asking and , Checking and Searching, ‘Scanning/Browsing, ‘referring and extracting, focusing and evaluating, reviewing, integrating the information found, using the information and transferring information to their students or colleagues.
