Prevalence of psychiatric disorders among nurses of a Nigerian University teaching hospital
Abstract
By means of a two-stage research design using the 30- item General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-30) and the Structured Clinical Interview for the DSM (SCID), 57% of the 100 study sample of female nurses of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Nigeria met
definitive diagnoses for Anxiety Disorder, Dysthymia, Major Depressive Disorder, and Major Depression with probable Panic Disorder.
