Mind the gap: reflections on the current provision of dance education in South Africa, with specific reference to the Western Cape

Abstract



This article investigates some of the ‘gaps' that have emerged between the ideals of dance education and the reality of training institutions in South Africa, with specific reference to the Western Cape. Three areas of disparity have been identified and are discussed in great depth. The article not only aims to discuss and highlight problems, but also offers some practical solutions.
