The Effect of Lignocaine on Lateral Phoria of young Adults
Abstract
The effect of 2% Lignocaine solution on the lateral phoria of 50 healthy volunteers was investigated. Results showed that lignocaine caused a significant change in lateral phoria at near with a percentage mean change of 32.7%, 57.8% after 2 and 60 min of instillation respectively. However, the effect of lignocaine on laterial phoria at far was not statistically significant. We recommend that phorometric test be done before any of the tests involving the use of a local anesthetic agent as their prior use will affect the final phorometric result.
