Abstract
This paper concerns itself with the Orosun festival in Idanre. The objective is to examine the people’s micro history through a study of the festival. The study deals with the cultural and social history of the people of Idanre. Idanre town is one of the oldest towns in Yorubaland but, little is known about her history. Orosun Festival in Idanre is an annual festival which is celebrated in May or early June every year. The introduction of Christianity, western education and rural/urban migration has all led to a reduction in the attendance of people at the festival. These factors have, however, not stopped the popularity of the festival. The Orosun festival has socio-cultural significance and this is examined in this paper.
