Information And Communication Technology: A Tool For Enhancing Supervisory Effectiveness In Nigerian Educational Institutions
Abstract
This paper examined the relevance of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as a tool for enhancing supervisory effectiveness in Nigerian educational institutions. The paper highlighted various tools of ICT that could be used in educational supervision such as Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Cameras, e-mails, audio and video recordings, and Skype video conferencing software. Also, challenges facing the use of ICT for supervisory effectiveness such as limited educational resources, lack of professional training for supervisors and integration of ICT in education were identified. The paper concluded that ICT could enhance supervision of teaching and learning processes in educational institutions. It was recommended that ICT facilities should be made available at all levels of Nigerian educational system.
