Teaching Practice: A Panacea For Teaching Skills Mastery In Early Childhood Teaching And Learning
Abstract
Teaching practice is an activity that plays an important role in the preparation of teachers. Teaching practice prepares student-teachers for skills mastery in the educational sector. The paper considered the concepts of teaching practice, childhood education, objectives of teaching practice, qualities of a student-teacher in teaching early child education, roles of the teaching practice to student-teachers, and the challenges of teaching practice. Recommendations were made on how teaching practice will be improved for skills mastery by organizing seminars, workshops and conferences mainly for student-teachers and educators in preparation for teaching practice. Micro-teaching, as a requisite to teaching practice, should be organized to make student-teachers prepared for teaching practice.
