Effective budgeting: A tool for the successful administration of secondary education in Nigeria
Abstract
This paper examines the role of effective budgeting in the administration of secondary schools in Nigeria. Being a theoretical research, secondary data were employed and the results show that budget, though very useful is one of the records poorly kept by most school principals and administrators. Factors such as: financial mismanagement, parallel budgeting, policy inconsistencies among others were identified as some major challenges to effective budgeting in schools. On the basis of the reasons above, conclusion was drawn and recommendations on how to ensure effective budgeting were made by the researchers.
