About the Journal
Peer Review
Submissions are first screened by the Editor-in-Chief for appropriateness and formatting. They are then assigned to an editor or member of the editorial committee who handles the peer-review process. Manuscript are reviewed by the handling editor and two independent, external persons, who are acknowledged specialists in that field, before a decision is made of acceptance.
Publication Scheduling
Until 2022, two issues per year. From 2023 onwards each paper will be brough online as an “issue” as soon as it is ready. Page numbering will be continuous throughout one year.
General
Papers will be considered on the understanding that they are being offered exclusively to the Journal and have not been submitted at the same time for publication elsewhere. Copyright is retained jointly by the East Africa Natural History Society and the National Museums of Kenya; reference to contributions in the Journal may be made, but no part of the text, diagram, figure, table or plate may be reproduced without permission from the Editors. Such permission will only be granted with the approval of the author.
Manuscripts should be submitted as a Word document in an email attachment, to the Editor-in-Chief, Journal of East African Natural History at office@naturekenya.org with cc to all co-authors. The manuscript should be accompanied by a covering letter from the author, or in the case of multiple authors, from the author responsible for decisions regarding the text. In the case of multiple authors, a statement should be included that all authors have seen the final manuscript and agree to its submission.
Contributors are encouraged to study the most recent version of the Instructions to Authors which can be found on www.bioone.org or www.ajol.info. Papers that do not conform to the above guidelines will be returned to the author for correction before review.
