The State of Research in Music in the Global Village
Abstract
The present paper examines the concept and need for research in music vis-a-vis the advances in information and communication technologies. It highlights the various organs for disseminating music research findings. With developments in globalization such findings can now be shared by people worldwide quickly and cheaply. People can now change from being superstitious and unreflective thinkers to being critical and reflective thinkers; from being mere consumers to being producers of information. How does research in music stand or how is it supposed to stand in this state of affairs?
