The contribution departs from the reading of some of the prose works collected by Luzi in Trame – a 1963 volume, republished in 1982 – to arrive at the elaboration of a poetics of the landscape and of the journey culminating in the symphonic poem Viaggio terrestre e celeste di Simone Martini of 1994. Proceeding to distinct locations (Florence, Venice, Viterbo) and through the chromatic and figurative suggestions created by them, the work attests to the centrality of the image of Siena in the symbolic repertoire of Luzi’s final works.
