Quando gli altri siamo noi: Tre esempi di storie identitarie di ‘diversità’ e ‘alterità’ al femminile nella letteratura istro-quarnerina di Croazia

Eliana Moscarda Mirković

Abstract

The complex interrelationships among nations, cultures and dominant religions, and their impact on minority communities at a regional  level has emerged as a fundamental issue in various social contexts. This paper analyses the matter of identity perception within the  context of ‘diversity’ and ‘otherness’, as depicted through the written works of three female authors who were born in Croatia but hold  Italian nationality. Graziella Fiorentin, Anna Maria Mori and Nelida Milani navigate the intricate historical and geographical terrain of the  liminal areas between Croatia and Italy, providing autobiographical accounts that capture the daily yet epic drama of these regions.  Furthermore, these three writers delve profoundly into personal memory, retracing the events and experiences that contribute to a more  comprehensive understanding of historical memory.
