Alfonso Gatto: Morte e simbolismo materno

Abstract

This article examines how Gatto evokes familiar images through  contemplation and how these are rendered by semantic nuclei. The disquieting tension produced by the poet is ascribable in particular to the symbolic aggregation Mother-Death. The poet thus succeeds in reversing traditional imagery and associating death with transformation and (poetic) renewal.
