Abstract

paper discusses the fundamental role that archives play in the management and selection of information, which forms the basis for the development of knowledge which, in turn, is fundamental to the empowerment of the people of any society, but especially in societies with the characteristics of South Africa – converging after a divided past and struggling to address a vast array of imbalances.
