Xenophobia: Contemporary Issues in Psychology

Abstract

Economic development is enhanced by international trade when a country's exports drive its economic growth. Many countries grow far more quickly than they would otherwise have done because of the opening up of international trade. Millions of people are better off in some Asian countries as a result of export-led growth that was the
centerpiece of their industrial policy. The forces of globalization have brought rapid sociopolitical change to many parts of the world. The sense of isolation felt in much of the developing world has been reduced by globalization which has given many people in the
developing countries access to knowledge well beyond what they can attain alone.
