The Question of African Philosophy: Methodological or Philosophical Skepticism?
Abstract
The ontological status of African Philosophy has generated a lot of controversy. While some scholars have been sceptical on the existence of African philosophy, others have maintained that African philosophy is an established branch of philosophy, and dismissed any sceptical attitude towards it. Against this background, this paper examined the works of some African Philosophers, and discovered that the thesis defended by them, can best be described as that of a methodological sceptic.
