Management of acute pulmonary embolism
Abstract
Pulmonary embolism is a life-threatening condition and death complication is not uncommon. Therefore, it takes a high level of suspicion from a physician not to misdiagnose the condition especially in settings of Sub Saharan Africa where clinical findings are heavily depended upon and where investigation modalities are generally scanty.
This article aims to review the risk factors, clinical features, investigations as well as treatment modalities available in order to reduce the mortality that may otherwise occur as a result of PE.
