Attitude of students towards the restrictions on mobile phone use in the library
Abstract
The focus of the study was on the attitude of library users towards the restrictions placed on the use of mobile phones within the Delta State University library. The survey design was adopted for the study. Using a systematic random sampling technique, 250 questionnaires were given to students making use of the library; however 242 of them were found usable. Descriptive statistics involving the use of percentage was used to analyse data. The study found out that library users make use of their phones while in the library and the level of use is higher mostly to make and receive text messages as well as make calls. The study also showed that users are aware of the restriction placed on the use of mobile phones and that users have a positive attitude towards the restriction placed by the library administration on the use of mobile phones.
