Information resources and access in Delta State University library, Abraka-Nigeria

Abstract

This study examined information access in Delta State University Library, Abraka. It is purely a descriptive survey. Questionnaire were used for data collection. To ensure effect ive coverage, a random sampling technique was used to select respondents from staff and students in the various
faculties in the Delta St ate University , Abraka. Descriptive statistics involving the use of percentages were used t o analyse the research quest ions. The analysis of the data reveals that in this modern era most users still rely on the use of catalogue cards and bibliographical source s to obtain information from books , periodicals, reference materials and special collection. It was revealed in the study that due to various internet hiccups and financial problems affecting library services the use of ICTs in information retrieval has not fully gain ed ground. Based on the findings, pertinent recommendations were made.
