An Evaluative Study of Reader Services in University of Agriculture Library, Makurdi

Abstract

The paper evaluated the extent of the reader services provided to users of the library, based on CULNU’s (1984) Minimum Standard (Guidelines) for University Libraries. Questionnaire was used to collect data from a sample size of 699 respondents. The findings revealed that, the library had provided the expected reader services but that the services were found to be unsuitable and unsatisfactory to users and do not conform with that of CULNU. The information resources were not current but highly relevant to users’ information needs. Problems encountered by users in utilizing the services were highlighted. Recommendations were made on the basis of the findings.
