Management of CD-ROM Resources in Nigeria Academic Libraries: A Case Study of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, Nigeria

Abstract

The study is on management of CD-ROM resources in Nigerian academic libraries with reference to Federal Polytechnic Nekede Library, Owerri. A descriptive survey method was adopted random sampling technique was used in selecting twenty five (25) staff from the library under study. The questionnaire was the major instrument used for eliciting data for the study. Findings show that CDROM resources are available in Polytechnic libraries with a very high percentage accompanying the acquired books and the available CD-ROM resources are organized by title and subject alphabetically. Indifferent attitude of staff, lacked of skilled and qualified staff as well as high cost of maintenance was identified as limitations to effective management of CD-ROM resources and the solution to the identified problems was put up as recommendations.
