Availability and Utilization of Information Communication Technology (ICT) for Teaching and Learning: A Case Study of Michael Otedola College of Primary Education, Epe, Lagos State
Abstract
With the rapid development of ICT, the traditional approach of teaching and learning at higher education institutions also changing. In fact, the integration between education and ICT contribute towards knowledge - base society. The past two decades have witnessed an emerging and growing trend towards the implementation of ICT in institutions to support teaching and learning. This paper aims at studying the level of lecturers’ readiness towards the use Of Information and Communication Technology to improve teaching and learning at Michael Otedola College of Primary Education, Noforija Epe. Data was collected using a well structured questionnaire to elicit information from One hundred (100) lecturers which form the sample size of the study. The study revealed that the use of ICT for teaching and learning is still at its infant stage. It also exposed a number of reasons for the limited successes recorded among which is lack of sustainable platform to support the full implementation of ICT and pedagogical considerations for ICT. The study concluded by recommending that professional development programs with emphasis on ICT pedagogies as well as the establishment of e-learning support structures should be promoted.
