Provision And Utilization Of Information Resources And Services In Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) Library, Kaduna

Abstract

The paper examines the extent to which information resources a nd services are provided and utilized in the surveyed library. The paper adopted a survey research method and utilized questionnaires, complemented with unstructured interviews and observation to generate data. Data were analyzed using descriptive and chi-square statistics. Findings reveal, among others, that a good number of users utilized the information resources and services on daily basis, users were satisfied with the resources and services provided, but that inadequate ICT facilities and inability to put the virtual library into operation, are the inhibitors to utilization of information resources and services. A significant relationship exists between provision of relevant information resources and its effective utilization (P < 0.05). The paper reco mmends, among others, adequate funding of the library so as to effectively provide the needed information resources and the range of services entrusted on it.
