Factors Inhibiting The Implementation Of Information And Communication Technologies (ICTs) In Nigerian University Libraries

Abstract

This paper identified the key issues relating to non implementation of ICTs in Nigerian university libraries. The implementation of ICT in Nigerian university libraries is bedeviled with series of problems. This study unveils reviews and also recommends possible solutions. These issues were discussed under the following sub-topics; funding, inadequate infrastructure and lack of training and education among others. While, solutions proffered are; implementation of polices and plan of actions by government and its agencies, increase in institutional funding to support and sustain ICT development, provision of adequate infrastructural facilities and training in ICT related areas.
