Availability And Utilization Of Information And Communication Technology In The Adamawa State Civil Service
Abstract
This study surveyed the availability and utilization of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the Adamawa State Civil Service. Five hundred and thirty (530) civil servants were involved in the study. They included lower, middle and upper level civil servants. Major results of the study are as follows: Personal computers are the major ICT components available in the civil service, other components of ICT such as Audio-Visual materials, CD-ROM, video recorders and players, projectors, cameras, camcorders are not available in most ministries. Hence, majority of the civil
servants consider personal computers as ICT in its totality. The internet and other ICT components are not widely utilized in most ministries. Very few libraries and information centers are available in ministries. These libraries do not have other ICT components except personal computers that are not connected to the internet. Recommendations have been proffered.
