The Impact Of Information And Communication In Extension Services To Rural Farmers In Niger Delta

Abstract

The article examines the impact of information and communication in extension services to rural farmers in Niger- Delta. Questionnaire, interview and personal observation methods were employed to elicit information on the impact information and communication in extension services to rural farmers.
The study reveals the personal characteristics of the respondents, on the impact of information and communication in extension services to rural farmers. If communication facilities are provided in every community, communication with the rural farmers will be made easy. The findings also reveal that rural farmers need to be encouraged by providing them with relevant information and communication gadgets in order to enhanced extension services and to improved agricultural productivity.
It is therefore, concluded that the establishment of Internet facilities in rural communities should be the priority of the State and Federal Governments to encouraged computer literacy.
