Combination of IoT and situational awareness for the achievement of effective security outfit

Abstract

In this paper, we reporteda progress on the research towards the complementing of IoT infrastructure into an already existing situational  awareness (SA) system of security provision. IoT here serves as an additional enhancement / new knowledge to an old known  engineering security infrastructure of SA.High Technologies, such as smart wrist watches, smart phones, home appliances, metropolitan, corporate, and entertainment apps, now have over two billion users and counting. These intelligent entities’ capabilities enable  machineries to interact with each other, without the necessity of a user acting as an intermediary, giving rise to the name "Internet of  Things." All of these contemporary approaches, however, result in a massive volume of structured, semi-structured, and unstructured  data, resulting in a rise in data capacity, as well as a wider range of storage and processing systems.The goalof this research is to  showcase how a blend of IoT and situational awareness could help in making security of places, homes and offices easy and seamless. It  is herein proven that the blend of IoT and situational awareness would always provide the best, efficient security.
