Effect management of information resources for effective services delivery in Kaduna Polytecnic Library, Kaduna State

Abstract

This study investigated the effect management of information resources for effective service delivery, in polytechnic library. The study was guided by Three (3) research questions and two hypotheses. Descriptive survey design was adopted for the study. The study was carry out in polytechnic library Kaduna state. The population of this study is 115 staff which comprise 75 male and 40 female in the library. With the sample size of 54 made up 33 male and 21 female the sample size was selected using purposive sampling technique, two instrument title management of information resources research question (MOINRSQ). and availability of information resources research question (AOINRSQ). were develop by the researcher for data collection. Reliability coefficient of 0.76 and 0.80 were obtained. Meanscoresand standard deviation (SD). were used in answering the three research question, while t-test statistics was used to test the two null hypothesis at 0.005 level of significance. Findings of the study revealed that staff have poor method in management of information resources. Storage of information, organization of information and security of information resources only have good preservation of information resources. Finding equally revealed that gender and working experience have significant influence on management of information resources. Based on the finding it was recommended among others that staff should be engaged in regular practical early in work so as to enable them acquire enough knowledge to become future employers of labour.
