Utilization of Sakai as a Learning Management System (LMS) and its benefits in promoting collaborative learning among University Students
Abstract
This study examined the utilization of Sakai, a Learning Management System (LMS) for teaching and determined factors that promote its use for collaborative learning interactions among university students and instructors. Using the mixed method design, 230 undergraduate students of a Ghanaian university were randomly sampled and engaged in a survey to collect quantitative data. Ten students of the sample were subsequently selected through purposive sampling technique to partake in follow-up in-depth interviews. Analysis of the data using both inferential statistics and qualitative content analysis revealed that Sakai made learning in undergraduate studies easier and promoted collaborative learning among students.
