Roles of libraries in information society
Abstract
Through the revi ew of relevant literature, the paper examined the roles of libraries in information society. The information society is characterised by proliferation of information through the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). One major principle of an information society is accessibility to information wherever and whenever. Literature revealed that libraries are relevant and will continue to be relevant irrespective of vast amount of information available and accessible in the information society.
