Folk-Song and History amongst the Kom of Northwest Cameroon
Abstract
This paper foregrounds orality as a powerful route into the history and memory of societies whose history have been marginalized in the written word with focus on the Kom fondom of North West Cameroon. The importance of oral sources in the construction of African history has been coalesced by many years of debates, postulation, and acceptance. Many researchers have authenticated the feasibility and therapeutic efficacy of the uses of this genre of sources in reconstructing history (Amutabi, 2002: 192).
