Predicting mortality in Hepatitis-C patients using an artificial neural network
Abstract
We have developed an artificial neural network that is capable of predicting whether a patient suffering from the hepatitis-C virus is likely to live or die. With test data, the system achieved 70% accuracy in determining when a
patient would live and 60% accurate in determining when a patient would die. It is hoped that with further work, the accuracy of the system will be considerably improved.
