Station History Of The Seismic Station In Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria
Abstract
The station history of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria seismic station has been carried out. A total of two hundred and thirty (230) events at epicentral distances between 24o and 180o were selected from recordings covering the period January 1985 to December 1992. Dominants in the selected events are events from Meditterranian, East Kazakhstan, India/Burma/China, South and Central America and North Ascension island regions. The limited number of events reporting at the station was due to low operational gain at the station which permitted only events whose magnitudes are higher than 5 to be recorded. A total of 110 events which have absolute residual value less or equal to ± 5 s were finally utilized for analysis.
The data were used to create the station history plots which display the travel times, the distance time curve and events location on a world seismicity map with Zaria as the center.
