Administrative Competencies Of Provosts Of Colleges Of Education In Cross River State
Abstract
The purpose of the study was to identify the competencies of provosts of Colleges of Education in Cross River State. Three research questions and one null hypothesis were formulated to guide the study. A research instrument titled “Assessing the competencies of Provosts of Colleges of Education” was developed and administered to 448 academic and administrative staff of the Federal College of Education Obudu and that of Cross River College of Education Akamkpa. Means and t-test statistics were used for data analysis.
Academic and administrative staff of the Federal College of Education, Obudu and College of Education, Akamkpa unanimously agreed that Provosts should posses the following competencies; high planning skills, ability to give definite assignment and feedback, possess policy-making ability and command loyalty from both staff and students.
