Empowerment of nurse educators on optimum use of high-fidelity simulation in clinical teaching
Abstract
Background: Simulation-based clinical teaching entails low, medium, and high-fidelity which has become an absolute necessary tool within the contemporary clinical health professions education including nursing education. Topical emphasis is on high-fidelity simulation (HFS) due to the contemporary migration to online teaching.
Aim: To explore and describe existing evidence on measures to empower nurse educators on the optimum use of HFS in clinical teaching.
Methods: A six-step scoping review methodology was adopted in this manuscript.
Results: Seven articles were included for summarising data and reporting in this review. Four themes emerged namely: i) capacitation of nurse educators, ii) availability of resources for proper implementation of HFS, iii) management support, and iv) technical support.
Conclusion: The practical and effective measures as proposed by this study can be adopted to empower nurse educators to be effective in their role in clinical simulation teaching.
