Abstract

Welcome to the second issue of the FUTY Journal of the Environment, a publication of the School of Environmental Sciences, Federal University of Technology, Yola – Nigeria. We are happy that the vision of the School to maintain a forum for academic discourse had been realized and it is being sustained. We in the School of Environmental Sciences, Federal University of Technology Yola hold the view that environmental ignorance can be very grievous and lack of information on the environment is a serious negligence and dis-service from environmentalists. We have therefore come to see it as a major responsibility on our part to continue to provide the much-needed forum for current discourse on the environment, thus the journal project. In this special issue, we present to you articles in the areas of Interannual variability of TRMM Radar precipitation over West Africa and the Sahel, homeowners reasons for design modification of terrace housing concepts and potential causes of 2007 flood over West Africa and the Sahel regions. These articles address vital environmental issues thereby contributing to knowledge in their respective areas. The editorial team welcomes articles as prescribed in our call for papers for subsequent editions of the journal. Once again, welcome to our FUTY Journal of the Environment.
