Basic Science: The Foundation of Science-Led National Development - Pursuing the New Nigeria Vision through SETI

Abstract

To realise her political vision of being among the top 20 economies of the modern world by year 2020, Nigeria must embark on a total transformation process that is anchored on science, engineering, technology and innovation (SETI) systems. The paper draws attention to the urgent need to develop an appropriate agenda for science and technology in Nigeria and action plans in this regard up to 2020, in order to create a competitive advantage in the areas of industrial and technological endeavours.
