Challenges of Science and Technology in the 21st Century

Abstract

Nigeria has declared her ambition to be among the top 20 economies in the world by the year 2020. Obviously, this sounds like a tall order unless the instrumentality of science, engineering, technology and innovation (SETI) is co-opted firmly and fully into the process. In this case, the basic plan for such a radical transformation requires rebuilding the social and physical infrastructure for basic, applied and engineering research in the country, especially in the universities.
