Sustaining Public Service and Public Enterprises Reforms in Nigeria: A Theoretical Perspective
Abstract
The woeful performance of the nation's public service over the years has necessitated the present administration's commitment to the cleaning of the ‘Augean stables' through the on-going public service/public enterprises reforms. This paper emphasises that reforms can only be effectively sustained when they are favourable to the poor and vulnerable groups and, therefore, recommends a shift from agenda stage to action stage, in order to reduce the prevailing economic hardship and its associated vicious cycle of poverty.
