Sovereign Credit Rating: The Experience of Sub-Sahara African Countries with Special Emphasis on Nigeria
Abstract
Nigeria's present sovereign credit rating of BBminus may not be an international investment grade rating, but the nation has gained a lot in the international transparency index because the international money and capital markets now have a benchmark for Nigeria. From this first rating, Nigeria should be able to make steady progress
with its dynamic reforms towards a BB+ plus or better in year 2008.
