Short Communication: Quantitative Estimation of Glycyrrhizin in Marketed Formulation by HPTLC
Abstract
A simple, precise, accurate and rapid high performance thin layer chromatographic (HPTLC) method has been developed and validated for the quantitative estimation of glycyrrhizin in marketed pharmaceutical dosage forms. The stationary phase used was precoated silica gel 60F254. A mobile phase containing 2- propanol, ethyl acetate, water and ammonia (50:35:25:2 v/v) was used to resolve the spots of glycyrrhizin. Detection of spots was carried out by UV at 257 nm. The Rf value was found to be 0.38 ± 0.01. The method was validated in terms of linearity, accuracy and precision. The proposed method can be used to determine the concentration of glycyrrhizin in marketed formulations.
